Charles “Buck” Clough Jr., chief of the volunteer fire company, died instantly in a car crash His pickup slidded off the road and slammed into a grove of trees. Clough received a call about an appliance fire on Main Street in the Eastern Shore. The 41-year-old member of the fire department for 26 years, jumped into his pickup truck and headed toward town in a driving rain and just moments later, dispatchers called Clough to say that the fire had been extinguished, he didnt answer and they expected the worse.
